My Mind Is Like The Middle East
A poem written some time ago which egotistically conflates my own mental state with the ongoing geopolitical crisis of one of the world's most troubled regions.
My mind is like the Middle East.
But if so what are mad Russian geese
Circling above doing here. See?
They think that I'm an enemy.
I don't know really. Not any more.
Who used to be my friends, for sure,
Have since turned into folk I hate
They've declared a brain-wide caliphate.

"I Didn't Fucking Say That." Charles Darwin to a Mainstream Economist
Why has empathy and caring for other people become anathema to our idea of "human nature"?
What has come to be called "neoliberalism", or "globalisation" ignores communities. Before this experiment was devised, mainly to fix the ongoing profitability crisis in capitalism, most first-world communities had secure work, a regular routine organised around this process, and a social safety net one could . . .
THE SALARYMAN
sonnet
At dawn, the train heads slowly to King’s Cross
And wakes me up just like it has for years.
“I ought to have a day off from the boss.”
I think as I get up, not out of fear

Foetal Warfare in Vietnam and Iraq
How the still imagery of the Iraq war reflects a broader iconography of the Evangelical (fascist) right-wing in America, and what this has to say about the shit we are in.

There remains a strong belief in the military that the Vietnam War was lost because of the critical United States press. As . . .
The Emoticon / Emoji
A Rambling Response To The Tyrannical Undercurrents of Social Media World
Social media and its technologies (e.g. the “smartphone”) have given corporations the power to transform what used to be anonymous contact and geographic location into marketable data.
I read somewhere that the genius of Facebook, and one of the reasons why it is profitable, comes from the fact that it inverted the process . . .
High Poos
They aren't haikus, spiritually speaking. So I invented a "grime style" poetic hybrid based on their metaphysical and ethical contention, that it is good to "keep it real".
Nowadays, people
are fucked up enough to buy
tickets to see Bros.
Instead of leaving work
When there’s fuck all to do,
People stand about.
We are all quite shit
Really. When you think about
What you are doing.
The homeless never
Come up to me and ask me
For a fucking home.
